I have the matching jacket for this set of pants, and very similar thoughts. Plenty of pockets, zippers kind of a bug-a-boo (direction they zip) - oh yeah, and the side pockets have two access zippers which makes it even a little more problematic (more ways for things to potentially fall out). But all in all, i would rather have all the pockets than not enough. What else can you rate pants for? =)
The pants are also very quite. Of course they are scent block, and everything appears to be pretty tight scent-wise, but no way to test that I know of.

I guess overall I would go with the 7. The pants work fine - no complaints. But if they were stolen, I would probably be in the market for something else - at least look at the newer items.
