This review is for the Nikon Laser 800 - 6x21 6.0 Waterproof

The rangefinder was purchased at a local sporting good shop and came with a carrying case and lanyard, both of which I did away with. The rangefinder also came with a battery that has lasted for two years now.

As far as features that I like - I did not shop around much, but settled on the Nikon because it was available and it was waterproof. I believe the shop also had a Leupold available, but my experience in the past with rainy weather and foggy optics led me to choose the Nikon.

I give it a 7 because I think most rangefinders would come with the case, lanyard and battery - but the waterproof feature is the main reason I purchased the Nikon. So I give it an above average rating.

In comparing to my friends Leica - the optics on the Nikon have a long ways to go - and he has yet to experience a foggy lens...

Reliability/Durability
Rating: 6
I would say average - I have had the rangefinder 2 years now with no problems. I keep it stuffed in my pocket on my backpack, wich is on the abusive side - the eyepiece cover is always scrunched up. No problems at all. And Nikon has one of the best warranties going.

Customer Support

I have to give it a 7 for the above average warranty, but I have had no experience with Nikon customer service.

I am hitting middle of road on this thing. It works great for what I use it for.

The optic quality is definitely below the equivalent Leica. Not sure when this would ever come up in a range-finding situation - it works fine out to 900 yards or so - which is a very long shot. But in all situations, the Leica is definitely a better picture.

So I give it a 7 - works great for my needs.
